Robotics & Automation engineering is a field or branch of engineering that deals with the design and creation of robots and autonomous systems mainly for the social and human welfare. The technology mainly used behind this program is the concepts of electronics circuit designs, motor control, control technology, electromechanical systems, sensors, mechanical design, CAD modelling, computer vision along with high programming language skills, IOT and embedded systems.

Robotics and autonomous systems majorly consist of four parts: the electrical & electronics systems, the mechanical systems, control systems and the software programming. A Robotic Engineer has the need to have the domain expert knowledge of all these major fields to understand the need and requirement of the program. The rapid growth of the era of Industrial 4.0 and high edge cutting technology in the field of Defense, Military, Space exploration, Automobile sector and autonomous car, Industrial sectors, agriculture sector healthcare sectors and robotic surgery has increased the demand of fast and precise operations within limited time. Globalization, High demanding market growth, completions, and oligopoly has increased the requirement of high-speed production, precision, and maintenance of high service quality. This can be made possible only by autonomous and robotic systems as humans can tend to make errors.

Most of the big-bannered industries are investing in acquisition of Robotics Experts and R&D in this area. Companies ABB, Amazon, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, and Siemens etc. are focusing on total automation and are also coming forward for set up of incubation Centers encouraging trainings and knowledge up gradation and hands-on on various automation and robotics processes encouraging more recruitment of students in these domains. Looking into the multidisciplinary approach in the current scenario Robotics engineer is hired in almost all the domains related to Mechanical design, Manufacturing, electronic industries, Robotics, IOT, AI and ML, Signal, imaging and Data acquisition, Automation, PLC, hydraulic, Pneumatic etc. Examples of Robotic & Autonomous systems can be robotic arm, combat robot, Air Cobot., Welding Robots, Drug Compounding Robot, Arduino Braccio Robotic Arm, Sage Automation Gantry Robots, Industrial Floor Scrubbers, Order Picking Robots, Drones etc.

Broadly speaking, The Robotics Engineer has a scope of pursuing a career in research and development, higher studies such as masters, opportunities in various industrial sectors. It is one of the emerging branches of engineering in today’s decade.
