Automobile Engineering     3D Printing and Design

Manufacturing processes has a heritage history of 100 years including various machining processes. However, Intricate and complicated shapes requires huge investments for production. Most recently world is witnessing cutting edge technology of 3D printing and design where energy, economy, efficiency, environment and ease of manufacturing aspects are elevated notably as comparatively with even existing advanced manufacturing processes.

A recent report found that India’s market in 3D printing technology is expected to reach 120 million dollars by the end of 2025. Large number of 3D printing companies are popping up in India.

3D printing is the advanced technology of developing 3D objects where raw materials are put in layers one after the other in a desired shape. A Computer Aided Design (CAD) controls the deposition of these layers. The layer fabrication requires specific technical specifications and virtual 3D blueprint. The cad software then slices virtual model into actual product in form of layers with help of 3D printer..

This technology is very popular in model and prototype making in each sector of engineering like automobile, thermal engineering, electronic components etc. aircraft components, musical keyboards, interactive posters, human organs

Indian manufacturing industry have not only started using 3D printing machines but also started developing and manufacturing advanced 3D printing machines.

There is a huge requirement of experts in 3D printing materials, digital manufacturing, model and prototyping, reverse engineering which talks language of industry 4.0..

After going for this technology, different industries are coming up with new ways of product design, new product development. The scope and advantages of this technology are endless. In the coming future this technology is going to penetrate deeply in different industries thriving in the Indian markets.

3D Systems Corp. (DDD) Proto Labs Inc. (PRLB) ,FARO Technologies Inc. (FARO) Materialize NV (MTLS) The ExOne Co. are pioneer international companies while Indian emerging companies includes BRAHMA3,Jgroup robotics, STRATASYS INDIA, ALTEM, THINK3D, NOVABEANS, DIVIDE BY ZERO TECHNOLOGIES, IMAGINARIUM. This course is carefully designed for imparting skills to provide human resource experts in this technology. Besides getting core mechanical degree, this specific program can give upper edge to students by gaining advanced knowledge in 3D printing materials, Reversing engineering, additative manufacturing with hands on practical training, internship, field visit, mini projects, and research in product design and development.
